For those families who receive Free School Meals, we are pleased to confirm that the weekly food hampers, which you have been receiving, will continue throughout July and August until the anticipated return to school in September. The hampers are instead of the voucher scheme you may have heard about as we feel that these hampers have been well received by families, contain menu planning suggestions, a good range of foods and are delivered directly to your door, avoiding the need to go shopping for these items and will exceed the value of the voucher you would have been eligible for.
We are very grateful to the school’s food partner BAM FM and their staff who have worked with the Parish Council and Millfield School to support this community project until the end of this term. Without this input from the kitchen staff at Hindhayes, families wouldn’t have had the support as quickly as they did and so we would like to take this opportunity to thank them for their input. As the project continues throughout the school holidays, Millfield will continue with the hampers and you will notice no changes to delivery, however they are looking to think ahead to September when the hampers will stop. During August they will be altering some of the items included in the hampers so that it helps families stock up on `cupboard essentials’ so they have these ingredients in September when needed. Millfield will be sending a communication about the changes in due course.
Please remember that the hampers are for families entitled to Free School Meals (FSM) not Universal Infant Free School Meals (UIFSM). For any families where you think you may be entitled to FSM and/or where your circumstances may have changed, please can you complete the form on the school’s website. If your family is eligible, your child will become entitled to Free School Meals and it also financially helps the school.
