Free School Meals

Update 22/04/20:

For those families who receive Free School Meals, you’ll be aware that this week (w/c 20th April) the weekly hampers no longer need to be collected in person at the school and will instead be delivered directly to you. We are grateful to our food supplier BAM FM who have supplied the basic supplies but also the Parish and Millfield School who have then added additional food items, menu planning options and some treats to the hampers. The hampers are going to be delivered each week on a Monday, so the next hampers will be delivered on the 27th April and weekly on a Monday until further notice.

As you’ll appreciate, these have been challenging times for all involved with setting up the hampers to ensure suppliers can obtain the food, it can be prepared, packaged and delivered but hope the current hampers are working well for all families. This week there were some concerns about some items being out of date. Just to reassure families that this is where items where previously frozen and then defrosted, so that when they were delivered with the hamper, they could be used straightaway. From w/c 27th April there will be a note with the hampers to confirm this and also help with how to use these items.

For any families where you think you may be entitled to FSM and/or where your circumstances may have changed, please can you complete the form at the bottom of this page. If your family is eligible, you will become entitled to Free School Meals and it also financially helps the school.

If there are any queries, please contact us through the school email of Hindhayes@educ.somerset.gov.uk

Thank you in advance.

Update 31/03/20:

Thank you to those families who have been collecting their Free School Meal hampers from the School gates and did so yesterday. We appreciate that this hasn’t gone completely without a problem, but are grateful your understanding whilst we manage the situation as best we can. Can I also thank school staff who have been helping with the distribution of the hampers and our food partner, BAM FM for being so flexible during this challenging time and responding so quickly.

As you’ll be aware from w/c 6th April, the keyworker child care provision will move to Brookside School, Brooks Road Street (BA16 0PR) for 2 weeks, until it reverts back to Hindhayes from w/c 20th April. During this time the food hampers will be available for collection from Brookside, between 12pm and 1pm as follows:

· Monday 6th April. A 4 day school lunch hamper to cover Mon 6th, Tues 7th, Wed 8th & Thurs 9th April.

· Thursday 9th April. A 2 day school lunch hamper to cover Fri 10th & Mon 13th April.

· Tuesday 14th April. A 4 day school lunch hamper to cover Tues 14th, Wed 15th, Thurs 16th & Friday 17th April.

From Monday 20th April delivery will revert to a 5 day hamper from Hindhayes

Apologies for the different collection days over these 2 weeks, but the kitchen where the hampers are prepared isn’t accessible on the bank holidays.

Please can I also reiterate that the Free School Meal hampers should only be collected by those families who have already done so. We have a list of people we are expecting and can avoid over or under preparing food.

For those families where you think you may be entitled to FSM and/or where your circumstances may of changed, please can you complete the form below. If your family is eligible it also financially helps the school.

If there are any queries, please ask through the school email of Hindhayes@educ.somerset.gov.uk

Thank you in advance
