The Blossoms
Hindhayes Infant School SEND unit “The Blossoms” will open in September 2026. Senior Leaders at Hindhayes School have actively sought out this provision for the community as it is our strong belief that children with additional needs have the right to be educated within their community and embraced and accepted within an inclusive but ambitious culture. Sitting to the side of our mainstream classrooms, The Blossoms has a designation of supporting children with moderate learning difficulties (MLD), particularly around speech, language and communication (SPLC) needs. It is currently a 6 place unit with its own dedicated learning environment, sensory space, toilets (including disabled access and a shower) and also including entrance/exits and secure outside garden and play area. Spaces are allocated for children with an EHCP through the local authority SEND team.
We believe that every child deserves to feel safe and valued, develop confidence and independence, achieve their full potential and be included in all aspects of school life.
The Blossoms provides a nurturing, sensory and supportive environment for children with moderate learning challenges, particularly those with speech and language difficulties.
The Blossoms will focus on:
- Individual Learning Plans linked to EHCP targets and underpinned by our Curriculum of Hope.
- Specific therapeutic interventions and support as detailed by teams around the children
- Small group family time activities and group teaching
- Social and emotional support
- Access to mainstream activities (where appropriate and depending on the needs of individual children)
