French Visit 2014
It was good to see our French friends again this year. They spent time in the classrooms working alongside the children on both English and French activities. There was an opportunity to cook and Antoine the Headteacher of Marie Curie School in Gravenchon is never far from the kitchen when this is taking place! We were fortunate to have good weather which meant both schools did some sporting activities together and had a walk around the locality on a nature trail. The highlight of the visit for Year 2 children was a joint party and games with their friends from Gravenchon where they could practise their French. We always enjoy a joint assembly and all children took part with the Reception children showing paintings of animals and proudly saying what their animal was in French. Years 1 and 2 shared some songs they had learnt in French and the French club gave a presentation where they asked each other questions showing a fantastic understanding of the French language. In response we enjoyed ‘The wheels on the bus’ sung by the French children which had everyone singing along together. It was a brilliant visit and one which I know the children will remember for a long time to come.
